Expert Insulation in the Historic Boulder Home in Colorado

Urban Green Development is converting its historic home in Boulder into apartment units. Bringing the building up to code presented some unique challenges in achieving energy efficiency.

The experts at Kinzler Construction Services installed closed cell spray foam insulation to reach R-50 at the roof line, used batt insulation throughout much of the home, and applied blown-in-blanket (BIBS) insulation in select areas for its ability to form to small gaps and oddly sized obstructions. The finished project resulted in outstanding thermal performance and excellent sound control.
