Kinzler Corporation is proud to celebrate and promote the role of women in the construction industry for Women in Construction Week, March 3-9, 2024. This year’s theme, ‘Keys to the Future’, celebrates the strength and knowledge of women and the vital role they play in shaping the future of the construction industry.
Meet Insulation Installer Selene Camarillo Ortega
“My father and a few friends worked in framing. I always enjoyed watching them build things and so I decided to learn and that’s how I got started in construction,” Selena says. “When I started at Kinzler, I didn’t have any experience with insulation, but luckily, they offered training to become an installer.”
Selena says she loves the variety of construction, working on different projects every day alongside her co-workers and getting to know other people in the field.
“I feel empowered as a woman in construction,” says Selena. “When I first came aboard, I thought there would be more women working out in the field, which made me want to work even harder. I realized that although men are often physically stronger than women, we are still capable of contributing to the construction field in many ways.”
