Reduce Sound Between Units with Gypsum Concrete

Dahlstrom Real Estate needed a flooring solution for their new 8-unit apartment in Cedar Falls, IA, which would satisfy fire rating requirements and reduce sound between units.

Dahlstrom Real Estate needed a flooring solution for their new 8-unit apartment in Cedar Falls, IA, which would satisfy fire rating requirements and reduce sound between units. They hired Kinzler Construction Services to install Levelrock 2500 gypsum concrete underlayment. Gypsum concrete is a building material used as a floor underlayment in wood-frame and concrete construction for fire ratings, sound reduction, radiant heating, and floor leveling.

Kinzler crews installed 1 ½” Levelrock 2500 gypsum concrete underlayment over 2-1/2″ poly-styrene. The substrate was precast floor and wood subfloor on the 2nd and 3rd floor.
